for the jury panels.
After a thorough evaluation of the
competing projects, the deliberations held in Beijing
(Asian panel), Miami (Latin American panel), Paris
(African and European panels) and New York (North
American panel) enabled jury members to select the 15
most promising applications for this year.
Following a three-month coaching
period by Cartier, McKinsey and INSEAD mentors, the
finalists will compete for the last phase in October by
submitting their detailed business plans.
The five winners of the Cartier

WOMEN MATTER, A STUDY BY McKINSEY &
COMPANY
Could women be a critical asset for
corporate competitiveness in the near future? The
question is worth asking; according to a recent study by
McKinsey & Company, companies with more women in
their top management appear to perform better than those
who have none.
Women’s talent is still
under-utilized in corporations both from a quantitative
and qualitative point of view. Women’s increasing
participation in the global workforce is not sufficient
to break the ‘glass ceiling’, as barriers in the
prevailing leadership models prevent them from being
more present in management. Yet there is a strong
economic rationale to better leverage women in
corporations and at company level, and a structured
approach and concrete actions are necessary to improve
women’s presence in top management.
The first results of this study
will be confidentially previewed on September 13 to our
partners.
RESEARCH BY
PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS
The subject of this study is,
“Based on selected identified and examined social and
economic factors, what are the enablers and barriers
that impact women in the workforce?”.

MEN’S CORNER: For Men
Only!
IN
PARTNERSHIP WITH BAIN & CO AND
DIAFORA
This very special corner,
created for men only, is a place to relax and escape
from the throng of women! Newspapers, rugby matches and
refreshments will welcome men in a very “cosy” club
atmosphere… and will be open all day long.
But
most importantly, the Men’s Corner will be a place to
discuss a critical issue in the business world:
EQUALITY! «Sirs, do not fear equality!» -- how equality
and its stakes can be spoken about in a way men,
managers and businesses in general can
understand.

sociological barriers
- Explaining why it is essential to
have more scientifically and technologically oriented
women (companies’ recruiting needs)
- Demonstrating the quality of
scientific careers thanks to studies and debunking the
myth of the researcher’s ‘dusty’ image
- Creating desire thanks to
testimonies from scientific women with exceptional
career paths
