The application deadline for the 2008 Chinese Rising Talents edition
has now passed.
|
|
In 2008, the Women’s Forum, in partnership with JPMorgan and
with the support of Spencer Stuart, is adding a Chinese promotion to
the international Rising Talents Programme. This first Chinese
promotion of 8 Rising Talents will be selected to participate to the
1st Women’s Forum Asia in Shanghai, 15-17 May, 2008.

CHEN
QIULIN
Artist / photographer
QiuLin is a young Chinese
artist whose performances, photographs and
videos incorporate sculptural elements and a dramatic, intuitive
approach to the changing Chinese landscape. Her work addresses the
urbanization of developing China, and deals with its rapidly
transforming geographic and urban conditions and the psychological impact
they have on China’s culture.
She graduated from the Sichuan Fine Arts Academy in 2000 and grew up in
the city of Wanzhou, a place that disappeared after the floods that
resulted from China's Three Gorges Dam project on the Yangtze River.

SHU–WEI
Musician and Professor
Soprano Shu-wei is a
concertist and professor of singing at the Shanghai Conservatory of
Music. Born in China, she studied music in China and then registered at
the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, obtaining the Superior Diploma
of singing concertist. She returned to China in 2002 to become
professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
She specializes in French composers, including Faure, Ravel, Debussy,
Poulenc and Satie, and regularly participates in the East Radio
broadcast of French melodies. She is currently working on a CD
dedicated to ancient Chinese melodies and various recitals in the U.S
and China.

YANG,
Executive Director of Junior
Achievement China
Gao is responsible for Junior
Achievement (JA) China’s overall management and performance.
She works with the board of directors to set direction, shape policy,
raise funds and awareness, and achieve the goals established in the
strategic plan. Under her leadership, JA China has been recognized for
its innovation and success in facilitating corporate social
responsibility programs.
Previously, she worked for GE, General Motors and China International
Capital Corporation (CICC). She holds an M.B.A. degree from The Wharton
School of University of Pennsylvania and a M.S. degree in international
finance from the Graduate School of the People’s Bank of
China.

(JINGHUI)
Vice President of Human Resources for
PepsiCo Foods (China)
Joy leads a human resources
organization in Greater China that supports a fast-growing business of
3,000 employees. Her mission is to lead the creation and renewal of the
company’s “Talent Sustainability”
strategic action plan to build an inclusive organization that enables
the business to deliver sustainable growth in China. Since moving into
the Shanghai-based position in June of 2006, the company was selected
as one of China’s top employers in the Shanghai Region in
both 2007 and 2008 (sponsored by CNB and CRF).
Prior to joining PepsiCo, she had a successful career at Procter
& Gamble.

LI XIA
Chief Financial Officer of Fiat
Automotive Finance Co.
Xia is chief financial officer
of Fiat Automotive Finance Co. and the Fellow of the Association of
Chartered Certified Accountants. She started her career at Unilever
Shanghai in 1995 and subsequently joined Unilever (China) Ltd. as
assistant finance operation manager in 1999. In 2002, she joined HSBC
Data Processing (Shanghai) Ltd., where she held the position of
financial controller for global processing Shanghai.
Xia obtained her bachelor’s degree in economics at Shanghai
University of Finance and Economics, majoring in taxation and
international business English. She attended the CFO Program in CEIBS
(China European International Business School) in 2005.

YAN LING
Head of PR for the Wheelchair Foundation
In her current role, Ling
focuses on the development and implementation of public education and
fund-raising activities in China. Working closely with local nonprofit
organizations and corporate sponsors, Ling manages sustainability
projects and possesses unique insight into corporate social
responsibility and CSR management.
Ling brings to her role a broad working experience, including a role as
a part-time radio program presenter and project manager of China
Shanghai International Arts Festival. She also has worked for Shell and
Fleishman-Hillard International Communications. Ling has an M.B.A.
degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a bachelor’s
degree from Shanghai International Studies University.

LUO
LUCY (WEIHUA)
Director of
Accenture’s Strategy Practice
Lucy is director of
Accenture’s Strategy Practice, specializing in the financial
services industry. She started her career with American Re Corporation
in 1996, and later joined Munich Re Group, where she was posted in turn
to the United States, Belgium, Australia, Singapore and China. A
musician, Lucy is dedicated to international cultural exchange
activities. She serves on the executive board of the International
Festival Chorus, a not-for-profit organization that promotes choral
music and cultural collaboration in China.
Born in Beijing, Lucy earned her B.A. degree from Tsinghua University
and graduated from the Rutgers E.M.B.A. program as valedictorian.

ZHANG MIA
Chairman and CEO of 8DDY.com
Currently chairman and CEO of
8DDY.com, Mia was co-founder of Mingya Insurance Brokers, the leading
life insurance broker in China. She was responsible for managing the
company’s operation and led the company to be named among
China’s top 10 Innovative Insurance Institutions of 2006. She was
previously a senior McKinsey & Company consultant,
providing strategy, organization and operation consulting to clients in
multiple industries.
Prior to McKinsey, Mia was team leader of IBM China Research Lab. Her
team received IBM’s Technology Innovation Award. She
graduated from Tsinghua University with a doctor of engineering degree
in corporate information systems and applications.

Application procedure

How
do we proceed?
A three-step selection process
- A preliminary referral form should be
filled by the referee before March 17, 2008.
- Preliminary referral forms will be
reviewed by JPMorgan, Spencer Stuart and the Women’s Forum.
Selected candidates will be asked to fill a detailed application file
before March 31.
- The Selection Committee will select
beginning of April the candidates for the 2008 Chinese Rising Talents
program.

What
are the selection criteria?
- Candidates should be women under the age
of 35, PRC nationals only (defined as PRC born, currently living and
working in China).
- They may come from the economic,
political, scientific, non-profit, intellectual, and artistic or sports
world.
- Candidates should have shown outstanding
early achievement in their career, and/or extraordinary commitment,
leadership and impact on their community and/or have overcome
exceptional obstacles to become leaders in their chosen field.
- Candidates should have a social
involvement.
